The district of Stade (around 200,000 inhabitants) is located in northern Lower Saxony in the immediate vicinity of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg and is part of the Hamburg metropolitan region; the district administration is based in the Hanseatic City of Stade. There is a wide range of general and vocational schools close to home as well as a wide range of offers in the areas of culture, education, sports and leisure activities.

Climate Adaptation Manager (m/f/d)

At the Stade district, a position as Climate Adaptation Manager (m/f/d) is to be filled in the Planning, Climate Protection and Culture Office.

Your area of responsibility:

Develop, implement and update the climate adaptation strategy of the Stade district, in particular

  • Develop municipal action plans to comply with legal climate goals, plan strategically and monitor project progress
  • Implement specific climate adaptation measures, e.g. with regard to building and regional planning
  • Coordinate with all organizational units in the district to maintain climate adaptations
  • Carry out events for district employees (m/f/d) and citizens (m/f/d) and represent climate adaptation concerns before internal and external actors (m/f/d)
  • establish a district-wide network to implement climate adaptation activities

Your profile:

You meet our requirements profile if you have completed a university degree (Bachelor or Diploma/FH) in one of the following subject areas:

  • climate adaptation
  • climate protection
  • sustainability
  • environmental
  • geography
  • Spatial, regional or urban planning
  • Innovation Sciences
  • Communication sciences with study content or continuing education in climate adaptation

Recruitment requirements also include the existence of a valid class B driving license and a registration-free certificate of good conduct (note: The relevant documents will be required after a successful application). German language skills at level C1 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) are also required.

Knowledge in the areas of moderation and presentation techniques as well as confident conversation and negotiation skills round off the requirement profile. Experience in public relations and project management is an advantage.
