As part of the Natural Climate Protection Action Programme (ANK), the BMUV has decided to tap the potential of satellite-based earth observation for comprehensive environmental monitoring and to promote a service-based infrastructure that is suitable for applications in environmental and nature conservation monitoring at various levels of administration (federal, state, local authorities) and is also intended to inform the public.
The EO4ANK project plans to develop and build a modular toolbox (ANK‑Toolbox) for comprehensive environmental monitoring in the area of natural climate protection based on satellite data. The ANK toolbox comprises a range of indicators that are suitable to support the monitoring of measures and evaluation for ANK. In addition, it provides an essential data basis for improving the spatially explicit modelling of greenhouse gas emissions from land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF).
Your area of responsibility:
- Organization and implementation of various stakeholder analyses, surveys and workshops to determine the needs and requirements of various user groups
- Preparation of remote sensing teaching materials for non-experts (with a focus on public administration)
- Preparation of training material for the individual tools in the ANK toolbox (with a focus on EOS data, environmental monitoring and in particular monitoring of peatlands, protected areas, forests and urban areas)
- Establishment and maintenance of a partner network, including federal and state authorities, environmental and nature conservation foundations, agricultural organizations, scientific institutes, start-ups and companies
- Creation of social media content and PR material as well as maintenance of the content of the fern.lab website
Your qualification profile:
- Master's degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. remote sensing, geosciences, GIS, natural sciences)
- Interest in innovation, knowledge and technology transfer, particularly in the area of Earth observation
- excellent written and spoken German language skills are a must (at least C1 level)
- very good English language skills
- Creativity and the ability to communicate complex scientific topics in an understandable and targeted manner
- Experience in science communication, innovation management and stakeholder engagement are an advantage
