Adapting to the consequences of climate change is becoming increasingly important for important areas of action in the Pinneberg district — from disaster control to water management and regional planning. Like climate protection, we regard climate adaptation as a central cross-cutting task. In order to create a basis for decision-making and planning aid for future adaptation activities in the district, a climate adaptation concept is to be drawn up and a climate adaptation management system set up.

The Climate Adaptation Manager will work as part of the Climate Protection, Sustainability, Mobility and Energy Unit, which is directly assigned to the district administrator. With fresh ideas, passion and expertise, our team of ten employees is committed to climate-relevant topics and tasks in the Pinneberg district.

This is a project position funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, which is to be filled from 01.04.2025 and is initially limited to two years. The position is filled subject to funding.
Follow-up funding may extend the employment relationship for a further three years.

These are your tasks:

  • Preparation of a concept for sustainable climate adaptation and natural climate protection (short: climate adaptation concept) for the Pinneberg district
  • Organization and implementation of exchange, information and participation formats on the climate adaptation concept
  • Close coordination with and advice from specialist services in the district administration that carry out activities relevant to climate adaptation
  • Support for the district's press and public relations work on climate adaptation
  • Independent cooperation with and handling of expert external service providers
  • Participation in qualification offers and networking meetings in the area of climate adaptation
  • Coordinating and implementing funding requirements: Reporting and participation or preparation of usage records and billing for the funding provider
  • Collaboration in applying for funding for follow-up climate adaptation projects
  • Participation in the district's political bodies

This is what you bring with you:

  • A completed technical/university degree (diploma, bachelor, master) in the field of geography, landscape planning, urban and regional planning, environmental sciences, environmental/sustainability management, natural sciences, engineering sciences or a comparable subject
  • Comprehensive expertise in the field of climate adaptation
  • Experience in project management, including coordinating interdisciplinary tasks
  • Confident and open appearance, excellent communication skills and the ability to mediate between different professional disciplines
  • Structured, targeted and timely working methods as well as high conceptual and analytical skills
  • Good computer skills, particularly in MS Office applications
  • Willingness to continue education
  • Enjoys knowledge and experience in organizing and implementing exchange, information and participation formats as well as in public relations
  • I would like to have experience in the area of funding and financial acquisition
